Congratulations, Jacob. You are following in your uncle Jay's footsteps. You will be the second great-grandson to serve a mission. Your second cousin, Denton, is serving in the Lansing, Michigan mission, and will have been out a year in October. Also three of your "girl" second cousins have served missions. Keep on going!

This is a great opportunity to find all of the great-grandchildren who have served or are serving currently. Dwight and Louise both have granchildren on the list.

Okay, let's start the count again - from Elizabeth's progeny, so far two have served, Heather and Denton. Now, everyone else ante up. (Can't count potentials, although there are certainly a lot!)

My son, Jacob, is in the San Antonio Mission (Spanish speaking) and will finish in August. Son #2, Caleb, just received his call to the Detroit mission and leaves August 6. (Incidentally, Caleb was named in part for one of our great, great, etc. grandfathers, the Reverend Caleb Blood, who was a Baptist minister in Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire. I've found some interesting stuff about him that I'll post later.) There is a picture of Caleb on the Summer Mornings blog. (You can check out some of his music on reverbnation.com/calebblood. Try Lovely Obsession, Alarm, Middle of Your Dartboard, and Sing to You. Try the others, too, but you may want to start with these. These are written and performed by Caleb.)

What a handsome young missionary. Good luck in refreshing your language skills. I suspect you will be considered a very tall missionary in Japan.

I, too, send my congratulations, Jacob, and I know you will be a wonderful missionary. As to the count, Diana's two boys served misions, Brian in the Pittsburg area, Russell in Bolivia, and Cameron and Allison Hull - Stephanie's just returned from Brazil the first of the year.

And I am going to check out the information you shared. And Elizabeth get Denton's picture up. This blog has just achieved a new demension. History is great, living is even better.

It is great to hear the next generation is going after the family history project. Jim, I really look forward to hearing what you have found. Many hands (and eyes) surely do make doing genealogy more fun and more productive.
