Ah, the wonderful smells of the fields and the water on a hot summer day.

Looks like a wonderful summer day.

Can't you feel the cool of the ditch and the shade from the old cottonwood trees? This was always the home lap - not much farther to herd the cows on through Grandpa's corral and down the road to ours.

That lane once seemed so long to me. I remember one year when Brooks and Lorraine were visiting and we had gone walking up to the top of the pasture, up close to the canal. It was after I had been so sick and my legs got really tired. Brooks made us willow whistles and carried me back to the house on his shoulders (piggy back). It is nice to have sweet memories stirred up.
