Minnie Arrilla Wasden

Mother would have been about 7 years old in this picture. (Aunt Cindy was born in 1913.) She looks like a child with a merry heart, and it isn't difficult to imagine her sitting on the stile practicing her whistling so that Grandmother couldn't scold her with the rhyme: "Whistling girls and crowing hens will always come to no good end." I isolated this picture from the group picture of the Wasden children taken before Uncle Orville was born.
