Was this chair once red? Mother must have liked blue, because she painted this chair and it's larger companion blue - and who has the larger chair? Note the little rubber feet, placed there to save the hardwood floor at Penrose. Lots of children have enjoyed this chair - Who sat in this chair to read? It is a real treasure, but I don't know the complete history of it. I hope for some help in the matter.

What a dear friend! My recollection on the little blue chair is that both of the chairs came from the Penrose Church. On the receipt for purchases posted earlier it lists "7 dz chairs $98.00". The smallest chair was in my bedroom and sat at the end of the set of shelves on the south wall in that room. Those shelves often held the wooden box of blocks etc, along with my neatly folded clothes (in another life). I'm not sure when it was painted blue, but it seems like it was always blue, however I don't remember the rubber tips being on there until Olympia. I remember how the grandchildren loved that little chair - something their size in a grownup world. One of the chairs was painted red, but it seems like it was the "one step up" chair that was red.
With regard to the reference of your "neatly folded clothes" in your room - please remember, dear sister, that it was my Saturday job to organize and clean up your miniscule bedroom. It was a very handy job, because I could hide a book somewhere in the room, read a few pages, stir the mess around a little, and look like I was being productive. Do you suppose that was dishonest? Or just trying to beat the system?

Ahhh, the little blue chair. This is probably the most beloved of all the home furniture, even including the pole chair. To my memory, it was always blue. There was another larger chair that was red at one time. But this one was the right size to prop a doll in sitting position or sit next to the desk bench for a tea party......happy days!
Welcome back, Judy. May our kids keep our technological world on track. Now check out the IPod! And the little blue chair - you are right - it is a true piece of home. As for Elizabeth cleaning my room, so where are you these days? You were in deed talented if you could hide a book and get away with reading it in that compact but wonderful little room.
Clean your room? I can't even keep mine clean. Entropy occurs so fast that things are organized and I turn my back on a room for a few hours, and someone has stirred it up again. Perhaps I wasn't even meant to be neat?
P.S. So glad you're back, Judy! Thank goodness for those in our family who bail us out of these fixes.
